Recycle Radio Copyright Policy
Effective date: [EFFECTIVE DATE]
We respect the rights of broadcasters, artists, songwriters, publishers and everyone else whose work reaches people through Recycle Radio, and we respond quickly to their concerns.
How Recycle Radio works
- Listening: Recycle Radio is a player and directory. It plays stations' and podcasts' own public streams straight from their servers. We don't host, copy or relay their audio.
- Station information: names, addresses and logos come from public directories (mainly Radio Browser), from the stations' own streams, and from streams users add.
- Song information and art: from the stations' streams and third-party services (such as Apple), shown with a link to the song on Apple Music where Apple's terms require it.
- Recycle Radio servers: a server turns what stations say into text to find contest cues and keywords. Audio is deleted as soon as it's turned into text; songs aren't transcribed in Radio Bot Cloud; talk is kept as text for a short time and isn't published.
- Rewind and clips stay on the listener's phone, encrypted, for their own later listening.
For broadcasters and rights holders
You can ask us to:
- remove your station or stream from Recycle Radio, or stop monitoring it;
- correct your station's name, logo, address or details;
- remove anything else in Recycle Radio you believe infringes your rights.
Send a notice to [CONTACT EMAIL] (subject "Copyright notice") with:
- your name and contact details, and who you represent, if anyone;
- the work or station concerned, and your rights in it;
- where it appears in Recycle Radio (station name, stream address, screen) so we can find it;
- what you'd like us to do;
- a statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and that you're the rights holder or allowed to act for them.
We'll confirm we received it and act on it promptly, usually within 5 business days. Removing a station or stream from the directory, from monitoring, and from Recycle Radio Cloud's station list takes effect for everyone on their next update.
Canada: we follow the notice-and-notice regime of the Copyright Act where it applies to us.
United States: for notices under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, our designated agent is [DMCA AGENT NAME AND ADDRESS, once registered with the U.S. Copyright Office]. A notice must include the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), including your physical or electronic signature.
Streams users submit
If we remove a stream a user submitted because of a notice, we'll tell the user where we can. A user who believes the stream was removed by mistake can reply with the reasons and their contact details; we may forward that to the person who sent the notice and restore the stream if the law allows. Accounts that repeatedly submit infringing streams are closed.
